Why do I suddenly crave Blue Bell ice cream?
Last night I asked myself this very question as I licked the delicious cookies and cream flavor off of my spoon, taking one final check to make sure I’d removed every last drop.
Let me start by saying I’ve never been a huge ice cream lover. Cookies, yes, but ice cream? Not really. Oh, I’d eat it from time to time, but never pick it over any other enticing dessert options. But last night, as I rinsed out my fourth or fifth bowl of cookies and cream (yes, I stopped counting), I realized something had changed. I had changed. When did I become an ice cream lover?
And, I think I know the answer. It’s all Blue Bell’s fault. Yes, Blue Bell and that horrible listeria problem. You see, when the outbreak happened, the stores took my ice cream away—for months. Suddenly, whether I wanted a scoop of creamy goodness or not, I couldn’t have it. Not chocolate, not cookie dough, or my all-time favorite, blueberry cobbler.
And then, they brought it back, a few flavors at a time. I had to buy it…and eat it, each one. For old times’ sake, right? And bam, here I find myself craving ice cream, and eating it—too much of it.
So thanks Blue Bell…one more vice for me to overcome.
