Review: Love, Lace, and Minor Alterations by Joy Palmer

Book review

A fun summer read filled with memorable characters.

This quirky, endearing story had me reading through the night. Joy has sculpted a contemporary romance with a light heart, but this book packs so much more—a spiritual message that resonates with us all—trusting God’s will.

Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

The Premise:

Isabel “Izze” Vez  doesn’t handle change all too well. But boy, her life just got tipped upside down. With a new boss at the bridal salon where she works and a pesky ad consultant full of ideas of his own, Izze runs smack dab into her greatest fears—love and commitment. Can she bury old scars and take a leap of faith?

James Miles Clayton hopes so because he’s got a crush…and a plan—a dating bet to get time with Izze. Of course, just as in real life, he and Izze need a few minor alterations of their own.

My thoughts:  4 STARS

Joy Palmer has a writing style which reads fresh and fun. By the time I was finished with this story, I felt like Izze and Miles were old friends. Izze particularly, with such witty humor all her own, which was only enhanced by her honest reflections and raw feelings. I found myself cheering for these two crazy kids to find a happy ending, but I won’t ruin it for you.

If you need a quick read, filled with amusing romance, check out Joy Palmer’s debut work. You won’t be disappointed.
