Your privacy is very important to me. At acwilsonbooks.com I have a few fundamental principles that I follow:
- I don’t ask you for personal information unless I truly need it.
- I don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, or protect my rights.
- I don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of my site.
It is Abigail Wilson’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information I may collect while operating my website.
Website Visitors
Like most website operators, Abigail Wilson collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Abigail Wilson’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Abigail Wilson’s visitors use its website.
Abigail Wilson also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on our blogs. Abigail Wilson does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
Aggregated Statistics
Abigail Wilson may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For instance, Abigail Wilson may monitor the most popular pages on the acwilsonbooks.com site or use spam screened by the Akismet service to help identify spam. Abigail Wilson may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, Abigail Wilson does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.
Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
Abigail Wilson discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Abigail Wilson’s behalf or to provide services available at Abigail Wilson’s website, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. What personal data I collect and why I collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Abigail Wilson uses cookies to help Abigail Wilson identify and track visitors, their usage of Abigail Wilson’s website, and their website access preferences. Abigail Wilson visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using Abigail Wilson’s websites, with the drawback that certain features of Abigail Wilson’s websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
