A BRITISH king eager to quit the throne causes mayhem in a star-studded new comedy.
Prince Charles is often portrayed as a monarch in waiting, who’s eager to get on the throne. But imagine a parallel Britain in which the monarch really couldn’t be less enthused about the role.
That’s the premise behind Gold’s new three-part comedy Henry IX, in which, after 25 years on the throne, King Henry is tired of being told what to do, of spending his days opening fetes, of being too famous to live like a normal person.
